Life can be challenging, and sometimes difficult to navigate alone... you don't have to. As a Canadian Certified Counsellor and Registered Psychotherapist (qualifying), with a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, I am here to offer a qualified "hand".
My approach is collaborative. This means that we will work closely together, tailoring our approach to YOU. My passion is working with couples, families, and mothers in need of perinatal or postpartum support. I believe in pulling from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to make sure all my clients are receiving the care best suited to them. Some of these include Gottman (relationship), Esther Perel (relationship,) Narrative, Person-Centered, Existential and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
While life is undoubtedly challenging and complex, it is often the stories we tell ourselves that lie at the root of our suffering. Do you struggle with feelings of low self-worth and inadequacy? Do you find yourself ruminating about the past or lacking the motivation to move forward? Is fear of uncertainty holding you back from the life you’d like to live? Are you stuck in a cycle of self-defeating behaviors that you're looking to change?
I’m a person-centred therapist who provides a safe and collaborative space for you to embark on your healing journey and reconnect with a sense of purpose and joy. With a passion for mindfulness, acceptance, and self-compassion, I utilize interventions that foster a healthier, more optimistic outlook and resilience in the face of adversity.
I work with people who have been impacted by trauma, struggle with anxiety, depression, or substance use, are navigating relationship challenges or life changes, and are looking to replace self defeating thoughts and behaviors with healthier coping strategies.
I hold two Masters degrees and additional training in evidence-based modalities including ACT, CBT, EFT, MBCT, and SMART Recovery. As your therapist, I will collaborate with you to set treatment goals and draw from your existing strengths to develop a customized plan that reflects your unique story and needs. I look forward to working with you!
Hi!
I’m so proud of you for considering doing something for yourself, to take care of yourself. That’s huge! Finding the right person to help you on your journey to wellness is so important. I am a registered social worker, holding a master’s degree in social work, with about 12 years of experience in various settings/with a wide range of populations including children and youth, mental health, addictions and with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I have extensive experience with processing childhood trauma and attachment issues, as well as processing trauma over the life course. Additionally, I am EMDR trained, and I am currently working towards certification in Perinatal Mental Health. I believe all persons have their own innate resilience and can benefit from building coping skills and awareness of their own strengths.
As your clinician, I am committed to working with you to review your experiences, to identify areas you seek to improve, and to build a plan together to find a positive and meaningful outcome that translates to improving your quality of life. I use a person centered, holistic approach tailored uniquely to each person’s needs and strengths, strongly drawing on an eclectic toolbox informed from cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectal behavioural therapy, trauma informed therapy and mindfulness. Choosing to do counselling with me means choosing to partner as a team to work towards goals we set together and committing to your own wellness and journey.
Outside of work, I am a Brant county local, mom of two who enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors, at the local arenas, or at the Early On, and Library!
I strive to make my practice as safe, welcoming and accessible as possible. I welcome all people, of all walks of life and experience to come and partner with me in therapy as I truly believe counselling can benefit not only your mental health, but your physical health as well.
